Congratulations to The Heights Varsity Cross Country team, which came in third place in the WCAC Championship – the best we have done since joining the league in 2018! The Cavs were only behind St. John’s and DeMatha and narrowly ahead of a very strong Gonzaga team. Our JV team came in first place, earning a perfect score and taking the top five places. Doing that well in the JV race speaks to our depth as a team. The freshman team also came in first place – again revealing the depth of this current team. These victories are even more impressive when you consider that The Heights is the smallest school in the WCAC and most competitors have more than double the amount of boys in their upper school.
When asked about the team’s recent performance, Coach Myers said, “I cannot say enough about how extremely proud Coach Burke and I are of this team. We have worked very hard as a cohesive unit all season and it shows. Every single one of our runners performed well and we exceeded everyone’s expectations this weekend.”
Update: 11/22/2021
The Heights Varsity Team finished in 5th place at the state championships. Our JV Team won the state championships, beating Gilman by 9 points. Overall this season, The Heights JV Team won the WCAC, county, and state championships.
